All classes will take place in-person at our Thrive to Five Family Resource Center located on the campus of Thew Elementary School at 2130 E. Howe Ave. in Tempe.
*If you need American Sign Language interpretation or other accommodations for any Thrive to Five class, please make a request 2 weeks prior to the class by completing this form. We will be in touch with you regarding your needs. Follow us on social media

Story Time & Craft: “The Grumpy Morning” (0-3 yrs old)
Description:
Young children may not be able to read fully on their own, but they still love stories! Interactive read-aloud stories promote reading and communication skills early on. This session encourages literacy for our young learners which is important in sparking a love for reading that they will carry throughout their education. A craft that coordinates with the story will be included, providing an opportunity for children to interact with each other and their parent/caregiver.

The University of Arizona Family Wellness & Nutrition Course:
Description:
The Expanded Food and Nutrition program is designed to assist families in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behavior necessary for nutritionally sound diets, and to contribute to their personal development and the improvement of the total family diet and nutritional well-being. We are excited to provide this course from the University of Arizona, instructed by a certified bilingual trainer for Parents and Caregivers of children 0-5 years. We hope you can join us for this awesome course! Free childcare will be provided until capacity has been reached.

Raising a Reader (8 week course) with Southwest Human Development (0-5 yrs) Continues….
Description:
Raising A Reader is a national program designed to educate parents and caregivers about the importance of early literacy skills and how they can help build these skills in their young children to help them enter school ready to learn.
Parents attend eight weekly early literacy workshops with their children, ages 0-5. After each workshop, they take home a bag of age-appropriate books to share with their children. Each week, the bag is exchanged for a new set of books. Families who participate in the program for the 8 weeks, will receive 12 high-quality children’s books to build their home libraries.

Higher Octave Healing: Start with Music: (0-5 yrs)
Description:
Start with Music is a fun and interactive music class for children aged 0-5 and their caregivers. During this 4-week course, children will sing and play while strengthening bonds with their caregivers and building new relationships with peers. Caregivers will see their child’s social, communication, and literacy skills improve with each class as well as learn about how music can help children learn and grow. All classes are led by a Board-Certified Music Therapist specially trained to work with young children. Each participant will also receive their own instrument kit to use in class and take home with them to keep. Come make music with us!

Parent Empowerment & Story time: (0-5 yrs)
Description:
We want to empower parents and caregivers to become educators themselves and help them participate in the joy of their child’s learning during the early developmental years. Experts from the City of Tempe will provide parents a safe space that will equip them with resources and encouragement to maximize positive outcomes within their parenting journey. A super-fun story time & craft will be included for your child while parents participate throughout this interactive session.
In the years from birth through 5 yrs old—before your child even sets foot in an academic school setting—you are their first and most important teacher. As you interact, you build bonds and promote your child’s language development. Many of our earliest memories are of spending time with loved ones and doing things together. Do you get enough quality time with your family during these busy times? You won’t want to miss this fantastic workshop for you and your child.

"Happy Fall Y'all" - Fall Theme Toddler Class (12 - 35 months)
Description:
Toddlers really enjoy hands-on learning through a variety of sensory activities. During this class we will introduce finger painting, playdough, and they will have the opportunity of using their five senses by exploring and investigating the inside of a real pumpkin! Be ready for some messy fun and don’t forget to bring an extra pair of clothes!

Description:
“Animal Habitats” Follow along with Bear in the story ‘Welcome Home, Bear’ by Il Sung Na as he explores different habitats and tries to find the best home. Then meet our animal ambassadors and learn about their habitats.
“Active Animals” Can you move like the animals do? Play along with us as we read ‘In the Tall, Tall Grass’ by Denise Fleming and activate our bodies to wiggle our way through the ways that different animals move all day long.

My Book Buddies & Lending Library “Compañeros de lectura”

Book Buddies is an opportunity for you and your child to enjoy a story and song together and take some time to exchange your books in our family resource center lending libraries. Each of our libraries is stocked with excellent children's books for you to borrow. Join us on a reading journey and your child will collect some treasures along the way!

"Happy Fall Y'all" - Fall Theme Toddler Class (12 - 35 months)
Description:
Toddlers really enjoy hands-on learning through a variety of sensory activities. During this class we will introduce finger painting, playdough, and they will have the opportunity of using their five senses by exploring and investigating the inside of a real pumpkin! Be ready for some messy fun and don’t forget to bring an extra pair of clothes!

Story Time & Craft “Monsters Go Night Night”: (0-5 yrs old)
Description:
Young children may not be able to read fully on their own, but they still love stories! Interactive read-aloud stories promote reading and communication skills early on. This session encourages literacy for our young learners which is important in sparking a love for reading that they will carry throughout their education. A craft that coordinates with the story will be included, providing an opportunity for children to interact with each other and their parent/caregiver.

Description:
“Animal Habitats” Follow along with Bear in the story ‘Welcome Home, Bear’ by Il Sung Na as he explores different habitats and tries to find the best home. Then meet our animal ambassadors and learn about their habitats.
“Active Animals” Can you move like the animals do? Play along with us as we read ‘In the Tall, Tall Grass’ by Denise Fleming and activate our bodies to wiggle our way through the ways that different animals move all day long.

Description:
Book Buddies is an opportunity for you and your child to enjoy a story and song together and take some time to exchange your books in our family resource center lending libraries. Each of our libraries is stocked with excellent children's books for you to borrow. Join us on a reading journey and your child will collect some treasures along the way!
